Scheel, Doris Selma (Marriage - 14 May 1936)

At the parsonage of St. Peter’s Lutheran church of Dorchester, Miss Doris Selma Scheel of Abbotsford, daughter of Mrs. Emma Scheel of Monroe, became the bride of Henry Blanke of Curtiss Thursday at a 2:30 o’clock ceremony performed by Rev. John Brandt.

The service was followed by a reception to twenty-five relatives and friends at the Gustave Oelke residence at Abbotsford, Wis. White, blue, and pink streamers and cut flowers decorated the Oelke home.

The bride wore an ensemble of Elinor blue crepe with white accessories and her bridesmaid, Miss Rena Oelke, Abbotsford, was attired in a light pink crepe ensemble with white accessories. Both wore corsage bouquets of sweetpeas and carnations. The bridegroom was attended by Carl Luth of Curtiss, Wis.

The couple plan a visit with the bride’s mother at Monroe and also at Appleton. After June 1st they will be at home to friends on a farm a mile and a half northeast of Curtiss, Wis.

My mother had a sister named Doris and her mothers name was Emma Scheel. Her fathers name was Herman Scheel. My mothers name is Leona but her birth records have it as Leone. She was born on 8/31/25. My grandmother Emma Scheel lived in Monroe at a county home. Please contact me if you have any information.
